Report: Frankie Edgar Replaces Brian Ortega In UFC Fight Night Busan Main Event

Chan Sung Jung needed a new opponent for the main event of UFC Fight Night Busan after the withdrawal of Brian Ortega and now he has one because Frankie Edgar has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Jung (15-5-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC appearances, with the latest bout being a first round TKO win over Renato Moicano at UFC Fight Night Greenville. Jung has previously challenged for the UFC Featherweight Title, losing to then champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163. Jung is headlining his sixth straight UFC card, holding a 3-2-0 record in those previous five main event appearances.

Edgar (23-7-1) was scheduled to fight Cory Sandhagen at UFC Fight Night Raleigh and that bout is still on at this time. Edgar has also won three of his last five under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Jeremy Stephens, Yair Rodriguez and Cub Swanson. Edgar is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating BJ Penn by unanimous decision at UFC 112 to claim the gold. 

UFC Fight Night Busan takes place on Saturday, December 21 from the Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea with Chan Sung Jung and Frankie Edgar headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
