Report: Gilbert Burns Battles Olivier Aubin-Mercier At UFC 231

A lightweight division attraction has been added to the UFC 231 card according to Tarso Doria of MMA Brasil as Gilbert Burns is in action against Olivier Aubin-Mercier.

Burns (13-3-0) has won two of his last three under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the duo of Jason Saggo and Dan Moret. Burns has seen his last three fights end via knockout and it has been almost two years since the fighter went the distance. Burns has suffered just three defeats as a professional MMA fighter, but the fighter has yet to lose by way of submission.

Aubin-Mercier (11-3-0) has won four of his last five in UFC competition, but is coming off of a loss to Alex Hernandez at UFC On Fox 30. Aubin-Mercier also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Nations, but lost in the finals of the reality show to Chad Laprise. Aubin-Mercier has also suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter, but all of his defeats have come by decision.

UFC 231 takes place on Saturday, December 8 from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
