Report: Holly Holm vs. Irene Aldana Headlines August 1 UFC Card, Shahbazyan vs. Brunson Also Set

A women’s bantamweight division card will headline a yet to be announced UFC card on August 1 as #2 Holly Holm faces #5 Irene Aldana.

Holm (13-5-0) has rotated wins and losses in her last six UFC bouts, with the latest being a unanimous decision win over Raquel Pennington at UFC 246. Holm is a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, defeating Ronda Rousey to win the gold at UFC 193. Holm is headlining a card for the first time in over two years, with her last such appearance coming at UFC 219 in December of 2019.

Aldana (12-5-0) enters the bout riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Vanessa Melo and Ketlen Vieira. Aldan is headlining her first UFC card, despite having been with the promotion for over three years. Aldana has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter, with all of them coming against current and former UFC fighters.

A middleweight division bout between #8 Derek Brunson and #9 Edmen Shahbazyan has also been added to the card.

UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana takes place on Saturday, August 1 from a location to be announced with Holly Holm and Irene Aldana headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
