Carlos Diego Ferreira needed a new opponent for UFC 231 after the withdraw of Jesse Ronson and now the fighter has one because a report from Aaron Bronsteter of TSN says Kyle Nelson accepted the short notice opportunity.

Ferreira (13-2-0) also enters the contest riding a two bout winning streak, with his wins coming over the duo of Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Jared Gordon. Ferreira is a former Legacy Fighting Championships Lightweight Champion, defeating Jorge Patino to win the gold at Legacy FC 25. Ferreira has suffered just two defeats as a professional MMA fighter, with those defeats coming against Dustin Poirier and Beneil Dariush.
