A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC 239 according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN as Sean O’Malley is going to be in action against Marlon Vera.
O’Malley (10-0-0) has already picked up two wins under the UFC banner, having defeated the duo of Andre Soukhamthath and Terrion Ware. O’Malley also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 2, defeating Alfred Khashakyan by first round knockout. O’Malley is competing for the first time in over a year, as his last professional MMA bout happened in March of 2018.
Vera (13-5-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Wuliji Buren, Guido Cannetti and Frankie Saenz. Vera has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of those defeats came by way of decision. Vera has won just one of two bouts on UFC pay-per-view cards, winning at UFC 227 and suffering a defeat at UFC 180.
UFC 239 takes place on Saturday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
