Alex Volkanovski does not believe Zabit Magomedsharipov has done enough to earn a UFC featherweight title shot.
Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez were supposed to headline a UFC Fight Night card on August 29, but Rodriguez suffered an ankle injury and the bout was called off. The scrapped main event did not damage Magomedsharipov’s confidence, as he called featherweight kingpin Volkanovski on Twitter:
@alexvolkanovski I’m waiting for you

Volkanovski responded to Magomedsharipov on Twitter, shutting down the ranked contender's challenge.
I am the champ not the replacement fighter but I hope you find a matchup ASAP then chances are I see you later this year. https://t.co/QCzsEEpi0I

Calvin Kattar, who Magomedsharipov defeated last year at UFC Fight Night Moscow, has reportedly agreed to face Magomedhsraipov on short notice. The rematch has not been made official just yet. Outside of Magomedsharipov and Rodriguez, everybody ranked in the top five has already fought for the UFC featherweight title.
