Natalya Is Your New WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion

For the third time at WWE Summerslam, a new champion has been crowned and this time it is Natalya taking home the gold.

The third generation Hart Family member used the sharp shooter to force a submission from Naomi and history was made as she became the new WWE Smackdown Women's Champion.

Ryan Cook is providing live coverage of the event and here are the end of the match highlights:

Natalya hits a discus clothesline for a quick two count before Naomi catches her on the top rope and hits a Russian leg sweep off of the second rope for a quick two count. Naomi hits a series of kicks before Natalya dropkicks her for a quick two count. Naomi hits a leg drop off of the top rope for a near fall before Natalya locks in the sharpshooter, but Naomi finds a way out of it by rolling through. Naomi then misses a split legged moonsault and Natalya locks in the sharpshooter again for the tap and the win.

Winner: Natalya via submission

This is the first time that Natalya has held a women’s title in the WWE in over six years. It was also the first time Naomi lost her title in a match, as she was stripped of the gold during her first reign due to an injury.

Other title changes tonight saw Neville win the WWE Cruiserweight Title and The Uso’s win the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles.

You will hear more about this later on the WWE Summerslam post-show podcast, which features Sean Ross Sapp, Alex Pawlowski and the creator of “Most Ridiculous” Anna Bauert.
