Billy Gunn is staying retired according to The Acclaimed.
On the July 22 episode of AEW Collision, The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) & Billy Gunn lost to The House of Black (Buddy Matthews, Malakai Black, & Brody King).
After the match, Billy Gunn took his boots off and laid them in the middle of the ring before walking out.
On the August 5 episode of AEW Collision, the Acclaimed said they talked to Gunn and that Billy remains firm in his decision to retire. According to The Acclaimed, Gunn blames himself for the losses in the AEW Trios Title bouts -- The Acclaimed & Gunn also lost to House of Black at AEW Double or Nothing -- and believes he lost a step.
The Acclaimed disagreed and they want to continue to respect the legacy of Gunn by carrying his boots around. They said that Gunn helped them find themselves and brought them to new heights in AEW.
"Billy, I hope you're watching this, I truly do because I hope you understand how much you've meant to Max and I."#TheAcclaimed thank #DaddyAss for everything.
