Adam Cole: Post-Match Hug With Malakai Black On AEW Dynamite Was Just A Cool Moment With A Friend

Adam Cole says it was a personal moment.

On the November 6th episode of AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole defeated Malakai Black. They embraced after the match, and the moment sparked some buzz about Black's status in AEW. A few weeks later, Fightful Select reported that Black would be wrapping up with AEW.

Speaking with Baby Huey on In The Kliq, Adam Cole was asked about the hug and whether he knew what was going on with Black at the time.

“No, I really didn’t. I do have a history of working with Malakai, just an unbelievable opponent, an unbelievable guy to step in there with. We’ve shared a lot of really, really cool moments together. So for me, all it was was this personal moment between two guys who have a lot of love and respect for each other. I didn’t know anything about what his plans were or things like that. For me, it was just a cool moment with a friend after getting to work together after a long time," Cole said.

Malakai Black was removed from the AEW roster page earlier in February, and Fightful Select reported that he was no longer with the company.

Cole previously discussed Jon Moxley's current run. Check out his comments here.

Fightful will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on February 19th, as well as a post-show podcast.
