AEW Dynamite's viewership went down this week while NXT's viewership went up.
According to Showbuzz Daily, the December 16 episode of AEW Dynamite averaged 806,000 viewers, which is down from the 995,000 viewers the December 9 episode drew. As for NXT, this week's show drew 766,000 viewers, up from December 9's 659,000 viewers.
AEW drew a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 demographic this week, which is down from last week's 0.45 rating, and third-best in all of cable for the day. NXT drew a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic this week (34th best on cable), which is up from last week's 0.17 rating. AEW had the highest rating among males in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.43 rating. NXT had a better rating in the 50+ demo with a 0.37 to AEW's 0.30 rating.
AEW Dynamite saw world champion Kenny Omega take on Joey Janela in the main event in a non-title match. The show also featured an appearance from Sting, a 12-man tag team match featuring The Inner Circle and the announcement that Cody and Brandi Rhodes are expecting their first child.
NXT was headlined by a match between Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley and featured several members of The Way in separate matches during the show. NXT also had the in-ring return of Karrion Kross, plus Tommaso Ciampa vs. Tyler Rust. In addition, Kyle O'Reilly defeated Pete Dunne in an NXT Title No. 1 contenders match.
