AJ Styles And Samoa Joe To Wrestle First Televised WWE Match Against Each Other At SummerSlam

AJ Styles will be defending his WWE Championship at SummerSlam. 

On Smackdown, General Manager Paige had scheduled the announcement of AJ Styles' next challenger and SummerSlam opponent. She came out to the ring to discuss the all women event Evolution which will take place on October 28th. AJ Styles also came out and talked about the inspiration he draws from the event. Before Paige could announce his opponent, James Ellsworth interrupted and was ultimately fired by Paige

After Paige and some security guards escorted Ellsworth out of the arena, AJ Styles was attacked by Samoa Joe in the ring and then Samoa Joe signed the contract that had been in the ring. 

After the segment, Paige admitted Samoa Joe was her pick for Styles' opponent. 

The two wrestlers have never met in a match on WWE programming and their last televised match was at Impact Wrestling in 2013.
