AJ Styles shares his thoughts.
"The Phenomenal One" AJ Styles stands at 5'11 and is one of the more decorated wrestlers in the sport's history. AJ has held every championship there is to hold in TNA. He has won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice, been PWG World Champion, was the first-ever ROH Pure Champion and has also held the RPW British Heavyweight Championship on top of being a two-time WWE United States Champion and the current WWE Champion
Compared to the WWE Champions of the past aside from the Daniel Bryan's and Rey Mysterio's of the world, the majority of WWE Title holders have been of larger size. The WWE Champion AJ Styles was recently interviewed by Cultaholic's Adam Pacitti and during their conversation AJ was asked about his stature and if there was ever a time during his career that he may have been looked down upon because he was not as big as his colleagues.
“I think that we’re moving in a new direction. We’re looking like… I think athletes are smaller these days in everything - in American Football, Rugby, I don’t know if you had a chance… even that stuff has changed." AJ said. "Guys are not as big as they used to be but they’re faster and quicker and better athletes and I think that’s literally every sport we’re seeing nowadays and that’s not a bad thing. That’s a good thing for me.” AJ continued by speaking about if he’s ever been held back because of his size, “I think at some point I’m sure people looked at me and [went], ‘Wow, he’s just too small’, and I don’t disagree with that. I’m not the biggest guy so I make everything I do count. Every move, every strike is gonna count.”
AJ Styles has made the most of his opportunities despite his size but one man who does not care about any of that is Samoa Joe who has his sights set on becoming WWE Champion when he faces AJ Styles for the strap at WWE Super Show-Down.
