Alex Coughlin isn't returning just yet.
On August 22, NJPW announced that Alex Coughlin would be returning to Japan as part of the Burning Spirit Tour. Coughlin was set to face Kosei Fujita on September 2.
Taking to social media, Coughlin said there was a miscommunication and he's not ready to return to the ring just yet.

Sorry if anyone got excited but there was some sort of miscommunication, I won’t be ready to return to the ring for a little while longer-

Recovery is going well though, I’m doing everything I can
I WILL be back though, and I will be stronger than ever… eventually
Coughlin hasn't competed since AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door when he teamed with Kevin Knight, The DKC & Yuya Uemura in a loss to Max Caster & The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn, Billy Gunn & Colten Gunn).
