Although Alex Shelley is currently working for IMPACT and is one-half of the IMPACT World Tag Team Champions, he is not under contract.
After Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) defeated Imperium to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, Shelley took to Twitter and asked his old pal Kushida if he would be up for another reunion and challenge for the NXT titles. It was in that same tweet, as well as another tweet, in which revealed that he is currently a free agent.
@KUSHIDA_0904, I am free agent bro. Time Splitters challenge to @MmmGorgeous and @WWEFandango? In @WWENXT? Let’s go!

Actually, it would. I stand by the statement as someone who isn’t under contract. They’re the real deal and exceptionally talented: but as a team, they are, without a doubt, one of the top 5 I have ever wrestled. They join the Bucks, KoW, Briscoes, and Beer Money.

Shelley and Chris Sabin returned to IMPACT as the Motor City Machine Guns earlier this summer at IMPACT Slammiversary and shortly afterwards, defeated The North to become the new IMPACT World Tag Team Champions.
Both Shelley and Kushida won multiple IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles during their time together in NJPW as the Time Splitters. The duo did reunite on NXT earlier this year, competing in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic where they were eliminated by Grizzled Young Veterans.
