Ariya Daivari Addresses Death Threats From Iran-Saudi Arabia Segment At Greatest Royal Rumble

Ariya Daivari is attempting to distinguish himself from his on-screen character.

On Friday at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, four prospects from the Saudi Arabia WWE tryouts were introduced in the ring but also interrupted by the returning Shawn Daivari and his brother WWE wrestler Ariya Daivari. The two wrestlers have Iranian heritage and came to the ring with the Iranian flag.

The two wrestlers criticized the country of Saudi Arabia and its athletes and then were promptly disposed of by the new prospects. Iran and Saudi Arabia have decades old diplomatic issues including the lack of any relationship since a 2016 bombing. Some fans thought the segment was in poor taste because of the geopolitical issues. On Tuesday, Ariya Daivari issued a statement about his involvement.

Ariya Daivari followed up the tweet by saying he received death threats due to his involvement with the segment.
