Big Bill talks his future in AEW.
Since coming to the company in 2022, Big Bill has primarily been involved in a faction or team, aligning himself with the likes of The Firm, The Learning Tree, and Ricky Starks.
Before coming to AEW, Bill had a successful singles stint in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling where he feuded with the likes of Matt Cardona, Eddie Edwards, and Willie Mack.
While speaking to Barstool’s Rasslin’ podcast for a new interview, Bill was asked about a possible singles title in his future and if he sees himself eventually stepping forward.
"Yeah, I’m open to it. We’ll see what happens. Right now, I love what I’m doing. It’s fun. Going to work is fun, I love what I’m doing. We did a backstage a few weeks ago where he was 102 days as the FTW Champion. I haven’t laughed that hard at work maybe ever. What you saw on-camera was one thing. What was happening off-camera in the ring…it’s just fun. So I’m having a lot of fun, I love what I’m doing. But yeah, everybody wants to be the guy. So eventually, you want to take that leap. So I just have to make sure I’m prepared. Whenever that opportunity’s presented, I’m ready."
When asked what success looks like for him in AEW going forward, Bill stated his main goal in wrestling is to be memorable.
"I guess a lot of people would say I want to win world titles, I want to be top, yeah, of course. Everybody wants to be the guy. That’s my goal, to be the guy, to be the face. Looking at the roster we have, it’s gonna be a very fucking hard hill to climb to overtake some of those spots, but that’s still the goal, to be the top guy. But I guess my main goal in wrestling has always been to be memorable, and I think in my career so far, in WWE, I think that I was able to do that with Enzo, I just want to be memorable. When me and Ricky won the tag team titles, I told people that was my first title I’ve ever won, they said, ‘No, come on, you and Enzo won them.’ I said no we didn’t, and they were like…no one remembers this shit. So ten years from now, people are gonna be like, ‘Did he win titles? Did he main event?’ Who knows? But is he memorable? I just want to be memorable. Memorable is the way to go. There’s been plenty of tag team champions in the past in wrestling and when I was in NXT and WWE, that people don’t really remember them anymore. But to be memorable I think is the goal. So for me, it’s always to be memorable in what I’m doing. I think I did that with Enzo, and I think with the Learning Tree now, yeah, ten years from now, people are gonna remember this. They’re gonna be like, ‘Oh yeah, the Learning Tree, that shit was funny as fuck.’"
