Booker T: Montez Ford Has To Know How To Make His Own Breaks

In recent media interviews, Montez Ford has expressed his frustrations with not being able to ascend up the ranks in the WWE tag team division.

The Street Profits (Ford & Angelo Dawkins) have not held WWE tag team gold since 2021. In that time, many fans have tabbed Montez as a future singles star, but any split from Dawkins has yet to happen.

Booker T went from a tag team expert with his brother Stevie Ray in Harlem Heat to a breakout singles star in WCW, and he had some advice for Montez on his Hall of Fame podcast.

“Well, get rid of that damn cup. That might help him. Montez is one of my guys, man. I like him. He’s an extraordinary talent. But you gotta know how to break out. You gotta know how to make your own breaks. I was with my brother in a tag team for nine years. Was I thinking about making a break and doing things on my own? Was l capable of doing that? Yeah, yeah, I could do that. But I was happy where I was, and I wanted to make that the best until there was nothing left to do there. But I think ‘Tez is in a great spot to where, when he finally does go singles, he’ll still have a lot of bumps left on his bump card if he does this thing right," said Booker.
