A WWE Hall of Famer was in charge of controlling the flames of the first-ever Inferno Match in WWE history.
The Inferno Match at WWE Unforgiven 1998 between Kane and The Undertaker was the first of its kind and a marvel of WWE production at the time. One of the iconic elements of the match was how the flames would shoot up every time a massive move was hit by either one of the Brothers of Destruction.
During the latest episode of the Something to Wrestle podcast with Bruce Prichard, Prichard confirmed the WWE Hall of Famer and at-the-time on-screen stooge, Gerald Brisco was ringside for the match and the person in charge of making those flames shoot high on every bump.
"Yeah, and that was just something that happened. Do, Gerry was there because you want somebody that you can trust and shit. We found that when they would take bumps, he started hitting the thing. It was like, 'Hey, that's cool. Do that on every bump.' So he did. He controlled it. Every time they would take a bump, he would do it. He was just messing around at first."
Undertaker and Kane would eventually have another Inferno match on an episode of Raw. Kane would appear in a few more fire-centric matches, culminating in the Ring of Fire match against Bray Wyatt at WWE SummerSlam 2013.
