Bruce Prichard: Some See WrestleMania As The End Of A Story, Some See The Start; It's A Catch-22

Bruce Prichard talks about the delicate balance of booking stories for WrestleMania matches. Sometimes, it's difficult to decide which stories should begin at the show of shows and which should come to a close.

Bruce Prichard, current WWE Executive Director, has helped book many of the 39 WrestleMania events in history. While WrestleMania is considered the greatest event of the year and one where certain WWE Superstars look to finish their story, sometimes stories are just getting underway or reaching their second act by the Showcase of the Immortals.

On the latest episode of his Something to Wrestle podcast, which covered the WWE In Your House: Revenge of the Taker event immediately following WrestleMania 13 in 1997, Prichard discussed the delicate balance of deciding which stories should be finished at Wrestlemania.

"Different people look at WrestleMania in different ways. Some people look at it as the end. Some people look at it as the beginning. So, there's a lot of both. You try to have that variety where you're not just ending stories, but you're starting new ones, and that's that fine line that you have to walk to make sure that, 'Alright, you're gonna build something up for the big climax, and we also have to build something up for the first one where you want to see a lot more of that going further.' So it's a Catch-22," said Prichard.

The main event of this year's WrestleMania featured Cody Rhodes trying to end his story by finally becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. However, Cody came up short as Roman Reigns continued his historic run as WWE Universal Champion.

Many people, including Paul Heyman, believe that this was the right move for Cody and WWE overall in order to tell a better story. Fans can read Paul Heyman's comments at this link.
