CM Punk comes home to Chicago and hopes to leave with gold.
As WWE's Holiday Tour rolls on, CM Punk finds himself entering a Steel Cage Match for the third time this year for his first crack at WWE World Heavyweight Championship gold since returning to the company in 2023.
WWE World Champion Gunther shared on social media that he would defend his gold in Chicago against Punk on December 29. This will be the first time these men wrestle. Should Punk win this match, it would be his first time holding this particular championship belt, as the legacy of the former World Heavyweight Title he held was merged with the WWE Title in December 2013.

CM Punk recently told Seth Rollins that he had no interest in facing him anymore because he was no longer World Heavyweight Champion. Now, Punk finds himself in a position to walk into his match on the January 6 debut of WWE Raw on Netflix as the new World Heavyweight Champion.
No matter what, CM Punk and Seth Rollins will be under the same roof during the December 30 episode of WWE Raw, the final episode on the USA Network.
