CM Punk Says He'll Never Put A Company Over His Health Again In Since-Deleted Instagram Story

CM Punk has seemingly taken to Instagram to give his perspective on what happened on the road to AEW All Out 2023.

CM Punk suffered a foot injury shortly after capturing the AEW World Title from Hangman Page at AEW Double or Nothing 2022. Jon Moxley subsequently became the interim AEW World Champion before defeating CM Punk in a squash unification match on the August 24 AEW Dynamite.

Now, CM Punk had taken to Instagram in a since-deleted story post to talk about the pitch for his program with Moxley and saying that he wasn't fully cleared to wrestle when he did the first match.

SIGH. I wasn't cleared to come back to wrestle yet. Then plan was to wrestle at the ppv. I sat and listened to Moxley's Rocky three idea. I explained how I'd never seen a Rocky movie and thought the idea sucked but if the boss wanted to do it whatever. He said he wouldn't lose to me. I'd never experienced someone refusing to lose to me. I just laughed. I asked Tony if this was what he wanted. He said yes. He's the boss so I said okay but I'd need to be cleared first. They kept saying it could just be a squash so I didn't need to be cleared. I scoffed at that. My health is more important. Dave Meltzer is a liar. Jericho is a liar and a stooge. There were plans but plans always change but I'll never put a company above my health ever again.

CM Punk returned to win the title at AEW All Out 2022 before being stripped of the title after getting into a backstage altercation with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks following the Labor Day weekend event.

In the months since then, Kenny Omega has opened up about as much as he can about the altercation that occurred. Fans can read those comments here.
