Cody Rhodes weighs in on the 2022 Match of the Year.
Among WWE and other wrestling fans, the debate for 2022 Match of the Year came down to Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell at WWE Hell in a Cell or Gunther vs. Sheamus at WWE Clash at the Castle.
According to Cody, Sheamus vs. Gunther deserves the nod.
"I do want to go on record, I know there was this big discussion over Gunther vs. Sheamus and me vs. Seth. Listen, I'll tell you right here, the better match was their match. I appreciate that people appreciated what I was going through and what I did, but I'm the worst when it comes to talking about the 'pec match' because you're supposed to make this big, Curt Schilling bloody sock moment. To me, it was what I was always going to do. They would have had to legit tase me and handcuff me for me to not go out there," said Cody with Sheamus beside him on Celtic Warrior Workouts.
Cody vs. Seth was given the nod as WWE Match of the Year on The Bump year-end awards.
Cody is set to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39. Meanwhile, Sheamus will face Gunther and Drew McIntyre in a triple threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
