Triple H appeared on WWE Raw and tried to give Cody Rhodes advice, but he didn't listen.
The rivalry between Rhodes and Brock Lesnar reached new highs on the May 22 episode of WWE Raw. Before the show even started, Lesnar blindsided Cody backstage and left him lying with a vicious attack. Lesnar punctuated the beatdown by slamming a metal canister onto Cody's arm.
Lesnar came to the ring later in the show and claimed that Cody wouldn't be competing at WWE Night of Champions, where they were set to clash in a singles match. He issued an open challenge, and Cody answered it. Rhodes came to the ring with his arm in a sling, and he ripped it off. His attempt to fight Lesnar backfired, as the former WWE Champion took him down, locked in the Kimura, and snapped Cody's arm.
Will @CodyRhodes be able to make it to #WWENOC this Saturday or did @BrockLesnar just ruin The American Nightmare's chances?! ------#WWERaw pic.twitter.com/T296WY8jdZ

Rhodes then spent some time in the trainer's room, and his status for WWE Night of Champions was unclear. At the end of the night, he was approached by WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, who told Cody that he didn't have to prove anything. Triple H made it clear that he didn't question Cody's toughness and he reminded Cody of the time he spent on the shelf after he tore his pectoral muscle. He also claimed that he could tell Rhodes' arm was broken just by looking at it. Undeterred, Rhodes made it clear that he still wants to fight Lesnar at WWE Night of Champions, injured arm or not.
