Cody Rhodes seemed ready to retire following his loss to Malakai Black, but Malakai had other ideas.
Cody cut a passionate promo after losing, referencing his journey in AEW, being competition to WWE, and even the in-fighting with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, but stated that he loved them and he loved everyone in AEW and the fans. Cody seemed satisfied with his place in wrestling and ready to walk away.
He took off one boot, hinting he was going to take his boots off and leave them in the ring to signify his retirement.
Before he could take the second boot off, Black whacked him in the back with a crutch and picked up the boot.
WOW! #MalakaiBlack just bulldozed through @CodyRhodes!
