Two-Time NWA World Champion Colt Cabana is challenging current champion Nick Aldis.
At the end of today's broadcast of Nick Aldis' successful defense of his NWA World Championship against James Ellsworth, it was announced directly to Aldis that Colt Cabana will be his next opponent. As part of the "four continent" proclamation made by NWA and Aldis, the match against Cabana will take place in Shanghai, China.
Cabana last wrestled for NWA in 2012 right after he finished the Seven Levels of Hate series against Adam Pearce. During the series, Cabana became NWA Champion twice. At the end of the series, controversy ensued as NWA did not want the last match of the series to take place. This led Pearce to vacating the title after Cabana beat him.
NWA is now under new ownership and is being ran by Billy Corgan. As part of Corgan's vision, the NWA World Championship is being promoted with the "Aldis Crusade" and a documentary called Ten Pounds Of Gold.
The announcement for Cabana's match with Aldis can be seen at the end of Aldis' match with Ellsworth on NWA's YouTube.
Fightful Wrestling will continue to cover the development of the Aldis Crusade and the NWA Championship.
