Dana White emphasizes that Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey are not returning for UFC 300.
UFC is gearing up for what promises to be a special show in UFC 300. Fans continue to buzz about the potential lineup, and some have speculated that the April event could mark the return of either Brock Lesnar or Ronda Rousey.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Dana White put those rumors to rest.
“I get why everybody asks. I love that everybody loves them like that, and with so much passion. I do, too. But they’re definitely not coming back for UFC 300," White said.
Lesnar has not fought in the UFC since 2016. His potential return was been the source of speculation ever since, but the former WWE Champion has yet to step back into the octagon. Still, White highlighted his relationship with Lesnar and noted that he considers him a friend.
“I always had an incredible working relationship with Brock Lesnar. t’s funny to say this because he’s such a grouchy dude, but I consider Brock Lesnar a friend," he said.
Likewise, Rousey's last UFC fight was in 2016. Rousey changed the game in the UFC, as she competed in their first-ever female fight. She went on to have a remarkable career, and she was the first female fighter inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. White made it clear that he thinks highly of Rousey and her contributions.
“I absolutely love Ronda Rousey. She’s one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever worked with. She’s a pioneer, an inspirational figure for women, and an all-around badass for UFC," White said.
White then repeated that Rousey and Lesnar are not coming back, and he is focused on UFC 295, which will be held at Madison Square Garden on November 11.
