Batista has another Hollywood role lined up.
As Batista moves on from the Guardians of the Galaxy series, he has already lined up another role in an upcoming comedic horror film.
According to a report from Deadline, Dave Bautista will star in the film, The Killer's Game which JJ Perry will direct. Lionsgate has the rights to the film, and the studio will launch it at the Cannes Film Festival.
Based on a novel by Jay Bonasinga, Batista will play a veteran assassin diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and authorizes a kill on himself to avoid the pain destined to follow. However, the character was misdiagnosed and now must defeat the army of killers he sent after himself.
Batista will also serve as executive producer for Dogbone Entertainment. Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar will produce alongside Steve Richards for Endurance Media, the project's financial backers.
“We are so thrilled to be making The Killer’s Game with Lionsgate and Endurance,” said Mad Chance’s Lazar. “We have searched far and wide and finally found the perfect Joe Flood in Dave Bautista, who balances compelling action and incredible comic timing better than anyone else, and with JJ Perry at the helm, we know this film will deliver the kind of wholly original and unique action that global audiences crave.”
Batista has not wrestled since WWE WrestleMania 35. He was elected to go into the Hall of Fame in 2020 but declined to attend the ceremony because of the pandemic. Batista was recently hopeful that he would officially get to go into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
