Double Pinfall Results In Triple Threat Match Being Made For WWE King Of The Ring Semifinals

Although there were two matches on the King of the Ring tournament on the September 2 episode of Raw, three men advanced to the next round.

First, Baron Corbin scored a win over Cedric Alexander to move on to the next round, but Corbin’s next opponent was initially unknown after the other tournament match concluded. The reason for that is there was no clear winner in the match between Ricochet and Samoa Joe.

Ricochet and Joe had their match end in a double pin as they each had one arm covering the other while the other arm was lying on the canvas, resulting in referee John Cone to count the pin for both men. After a brief discussion with the behind-the-scenes crew, Cone left the ring, telling Ricochet that a ruling on their match will be made.

As for Corbin, he picked up a win but did so against a weakened Alexander. Prior to the match, Alexander was attacked by United States champion AJ Styles and Gallows and Anderson.

After Corbin briefly tried to convince Cone that he should get a bye for the next round, Cone would reveal that both Ricochet and Joe were not eliminated and that they both advanced. The semifinal matchup for the September 9 episode of Raw will be a triple threat match between Corbin, Ricochet and Joe.

The winner of that semifinal match will face the other finalist, which will be either Elias, Ali, Chad Gable and Andrade, in the King of the Ring finals at Clash of Champions on September 15. Fightful will have live coverage of Clash of Champions and live results of Raw can be seen at this link.
