Dwayne Johnson Shares Set Video as 'Jumanji 3' Wraps Filming

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a massive success for Sony during 2017's holiday season grossing an impressive $962 million worldwide. It came as no surprise when a sequel was immediately greenlit with the main cast and director Jake Kasdan (son of legendary Star Wars and Indiana Jones scribe Lawrence Kasdan) all signing on to return. With the film now a mere seven months away from its release, Dwayne Johnson has shared a set video to announce that filming has officially wrapped.

Plot details for the franchises third installment are still being kept under wraps, but Kevin Hart did have this to say about the film during an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub:

“Back in the world of Jumanji, but the beautiful thing about the way we set it is through the video game atmosphere. In this particular case we go back into the game and we’re in a new level. And the way we got back into the game is the way we didn’t want to get back into the game. The same people are there. Our same band is back together with this adventure on a much more risky adventure. The stakes have been elevated and raised. For a fan base, you want to give them the same family action adventure they fell in love with. So we just wanted to make sure we delivered. Jake Kasdan, our director and writer, he does just that.”

Based on the video and photos released, it appears that the setting for the in-game adventure will shift to the desert. Don't rule out a return to the jungle, however, as production did spend time in Hawaii.

Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Hart will be joined by newcomers Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover. Jumanji 3 is currently scheduled for a Christmas 2019 release where it will go toe-to-toe with Disney's highly anticipated, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
