Edge says his match at Wrestlemania 17 was almost perfect.
In an interview on Busted Open Radio, Edge spoke with host Bubba Ray Dudley about their TLC match at Wrestlemania 17 in Houston, Texas. The match was a three way Tag Team Championship match between The Hardy Boys, The Dudley Boys, and Edge and Christian. Dudley and Edge both said things between the wrestlers got tense leading up to the match.
"We all were trying to figure out the sequence of events and 'how it should go' kind of thing. I think the debate was do we do the spear or do the crash and burn with (Bubba Ray Dudley) and Matt (Hardy) through the tables," said Edge. "It was really the only time the six of us were at a standstill and it got heated but not in a 'I hate you" heated but in a "we care about this, we're passionate, and we want this to be the best it can absolutely be.' Because at that point, there was a lot of pressure on us," he continued.
Edge said the wrestlers put pressure on themselves, but there was pressure from their bosses, fans, and co-workers to top the last TLC match. Edge said the match was as good as it gets.
"I think that was the boiling point where we all went 'there is a lot riding on this, we got to make it perfect' which is never possible. But that thing was as perfect as you can possibly get," said Edge.
Dudley mentioned the only mistake he saw during the match.
"As a matter of fact, the only person who screwed up in that match is Jeff Hardy who is the last person ever we expect to screw up because when we would put the matches together, we would always say 'What is Jeff going to do?" and then we would book it out backwards because we knew Jeff would have the most spectacular of all the spots," said Dudley.
The mistake Jeff Hardy made was when Hardy stumbled while running across a ladder. Edge said he enjoyed that it looked like Hardy was struggling.
