Big Damo (Killian Dain) Says Drake Maverick Is The Next Terry Taylor, Comments On Their NXT Run

Big Damo (formerly Killian Dain in WWE) is happy for Drake Maverick.

Before his release from WWE on June 25, 2021, Big Damo spent eight months teaming with Drake Maverick in NXT. Though the odd couple never captured gold together, they did reach the quarterfinals of the 2021 Dusty Cup and would even challenge MSK for the Tag Titles after winning a #1 Contenders Match.

Maverick now serves as a member of the WWE Creative Team after having been released by the company twice, first in April 2020 and then again in November 2021.

Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (full interview above), the former SAnitY member called Maverick the new Terry Taylor, joking that he'll probably get fired a few more times. Beyond that, however, Damo is happy for Drake and says he has a great mind for the business.

"Listen, Drake Maverick is the new Terry Taylor. He’s gonna get fired six or seven times and get hired in multiple different ways and you know what? Good for him because he’s got a great mind for the business. He’s a great performer, but he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to outside the ring. I’m happy for him. Everything you saw on screen with me and Drake Maverick is just as it is off-screen. He’s a nightmare. He’s a thorn in my side. He’s a pain in my arse. Whatever you want to say. Monkey on my back, whatever.," he said.

Continuing on, Damo said that Maverick was a lot of fun to work with and believes that he is one of those people that is great for the industry as a whole.

"But I’m delighted for him. He was a lot of fun to work with and to talk to and whatever else. He’ll only be a benefit. If somebody gets out of there at a reasonable age, who can try and give his opinion on what wrestling could be down the line, [will he be listened to?] Let’s hope so. If it’s not, it’s not. But he’ll always land on his feet. I think Drake’s one of those people who is great for the industry. He’s a lovely fella, I can only wish him the best," he said.

Up next for Big Damo is a return to New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he will face Tomohiro Ishii at NJPW STRONG: Mutiny on April 10, 2022. Fightful will have results from the event immediately following its conclusion.
