Colby Covington doesn't always seem to have a sunny disposition, but he's not always at WWE Monday Night Raw.
As Covington told Fightful.com recently, he attended WWE Raw in Miami, Florida. The UFC Interim Welterweight Champion was seen backstage with Ronda Rousey and Jinder Mahal, with his championship belt in tow.
While name-dropping some familiar stars, Colby said that he enjoyed his time backstage.
"Raw was an eye opener," said Covington. "It was an unbelievable experience. Getting to hang out with Kurt Angle, my good friend Bobby Lashley. I got to talk to Paul Heyman, who was running me through some some. Everybody's just stand up people there. They really respect the MMA world. I'm doing pro wrestlers better than the pro wrestlers are doing."
This isn't Covington's first experience being around a pro wrestling setting. Covington was a part of IMPACT Wrestling's American Top Team angle with the aforementioned Bobby Lashley last year. Covington says he's not done with pro wrestling, either.
"It was good to see all of those guys. We got to see what the future holds," Covington said. "I'm going to go over there and be a WWE Champion. What's up Vince McMahon? I know Dan Lambert, my manager, is in talks. I just focus on getting better in all aspects of my life. First thing's first, I'm competitively hungry. I have to defend what's mine -- this belt, against the number one contender Tyquil Woodley," Covington said."
Fightful has learned that Covington didn't actually get to meet Vince McMahon backstage, but made a positive impression on most wrestlers.
