Exclusive: Kenny Omega On Possibly Working More U.S. Dates

Kenny Omega is happy to have resolved his visa issues and now getting himself ready to work more dates in the United States should he need to.

In a media conference call featuring Omega to promote the upcoming G1 Special in Long Beach, California, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp asked Omega how does NJPW’s venture into the United States and Omega’s involvement with the events figure into Omega working more dates in the United States, whether they would be with Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerilla or any other promotion in the U.S.

“Before, it was always the visa and the timing issues. New Japan really has taken most of my time and even in between all the tours, I was never really with a lot of down time. In between tours, being the leader of the Bullet Club or possibly building up to a big match, I would have to do a lot of PR and media stuff in Japan. With our international dates now being added to our schedule in Japan, I can’t imagine having more free time, but having the American Visa does open up some doors and possibilities and a lot of windows here and there. It’s a double-edged sword, it goes both ways. I would be even more busy with additional foreign dates or because I have the ability to travel and work dates in America, those little tiny gaps in between my schedule, I’ll now have the ability to take things stateside. Of course, now that you mention ROH and PWG, those would be the places I would go back first in a heartbeat,” Omega said.

Omega will be participating in the tournament to crown the first ever IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion at Long Beach. He will face former IWGP Intercontinental champion Michael Elgin in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The G1 Special will take place on July 1 and 2 and will be broadcast on AXS TV. The conference call can be heard in the video above.
