Sonjay Dutt has his eye on a couple wrestling events this week.
Sonjay Dutt has been working exclusively backstage at Impact Wrestling since having surgery on his achilles in January. On a media conference call, Dutt told Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp he has kept looking for new talent even though he has not been wrestling his usual schedule.
"I keep my eye out on a daily basis. Just because I obviously have been hurt and haven't been active on the independent scene in the last twelve weeks, that doesn't mean I'm not paying attention to what's going on. My ear is always to the ground," said Dutt.
This week leading up to Wrestlemania 34, many independent promotions will host events including the several who will be part of Wrestlecon including Impact Wrestling. At Wrestlecon, Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground will co-promote an event together. Dutt said he will be checking out some of the other wrestling in New Orleans and at Wrestlecon.
"I'm looking forward to catching some of the other shows. Joey Janela's Spring Break running midnight following ours. Rev Pro is right before us. There's Crash, especially the Crash show. I'm very interested to see some of the young high flyers that are going to come out of Mexico that domestically we may not know about," said Dutt.
Audio from the conference call can be heard at the Fightful YouTube Channel or the video above.
