Fightful has confirmed that Game Changer Wrestling has signed Nick Gage to an exclusive, multi-year contract.
We're told this will allow Gage to reduce the number of matches he has to wrestle moving forward, while keeping him a part of the GCW brand. Gage has been an integral part of the company, including main eventing The WRLD on GCW with a surprise return in the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Gage's profile in the public spotlight increased significantly in 2021 when his 20+ year career was highlighted on Vice's Dark Side of the Ring series, and he made an appearance wrestling Chris Jericho on All Elite Wrestling's Dynamite.
Fightful spoke with GCW Owner Brett Lauderdale, who provided the following:
"This is a major milestone moment for both Nick and GCW. I have always been against the idea of contracts in GCW but there are exceptions to every rule.
From day 1, Nick has put his body, and literally his life on the line for the fans inside the squared circle. He deserves, and has earned the right to be rewarded for 20+ years of hard work and sacrifice.
This historic contract will do just that, allowing him to continue his in-ring career at a pace that is beneficial to his health, while beginning to focus on opportunities that take him towards the next phase of his career.
GCW would not have achieved the level of success it has without Nick F'N Gage, and we are proud to be able to say that GCW will remain Nick's home for the rest of his career," Lauderdale said.
Along with Matt Tremont, Gage won the GCW Tag Team Championships in January at the aforementioned "The WRLD on GCW" show.
