Gunther On Doing His Style In WWE: With Triple H, There Is More Freedom To That

Gunther likes how Triple H is open to everything.

Gunther has been known for his hard-hitting offense for years. During his time in NXT, there was some doubt as to whether he would be able to bring his style with him to the main roster, or if he would have to adjust it. Gunther was called up to the main roster in April 2022.

A few months later, Vince McMahon temporarily retired, and Triple H took over as the head of creative. Gunther has had a remarkable run on the main roster, as he had a record-breaking run as the WWE Intercontinental Champion, and he won the King of the Ring tournament in 2024.

Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp at a media event ahead of WWE SummerSlam, Gunther was asked about doing his style in WWE.

"With Triple H, there is more freedom to that. I wouldn’t say there is one set WWE style through the roster. There is more freedom. Everything fell in place at the right time with me when it came to that. That’s what made me sign with WWE in the first place. I always had the feeling with Triple H that he is open to everything and would give people more freedom to do stuff. That always intrigued me. It shows now," Gunther said.
