Jerry Lawler's tenure with WWE is largely over, as reported by PWInsider.
On May 6, PWinsider reported that Jerry Lawler's talent contract had expired with WWE. Initially, there were many responses calling for a Jim Ross reunion, whether it be in AEW or elsewhere, but that's unlikely (but not impossible) for many reasons. When speaking with AEW sources, we're told Lawler's name hasn't been brought up as a possibility. Outside of that, PWInsider noted that Lawler is still under a Legends deal.
We're told by those close to Lawler that he doesn't follow AEW, and doesn't watch much of any wrestling anymore. Lawler has also gone over a year without wrestling for the first time in his career, after suffering a stroke last February. Those that we speak to believe that he's likely also done in the ring, and said that verbally he's still feeling the effects of the stroke.
Lawler appeared for WWE in front of a Memphis crowd last year, and in a pre-tape for NXT about five months ago.
