Piper Niven reflects on the WrestleMania sign catching fire while she was wrestling Becky Lynch and also addresses fan desire to see her and Becky Lynch team with Alba Fyre.
Becky Lynch defended the WWE Raw Women's Championship against Doudrop at WWE Royal Rumble 2022. One year later, Niven reflects on her most significant singles opportunity in WWE today and recalls the WrestleMania sign being on fire while she was in the ring wrestling Becky Lynch.
"Getting to wrestle Becky was great. I’ll probably get to do it again," she said. "I remember being in the ring, Becky’s cranking this headlock in on me, and remember hearing her say, ‘The sign is on fire.’ At first, I thought she said, ‘We’re on fire,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, Becks, we’re on fire.’ Then she’s like, ‘No, no, no. The sign is on fire.’ I go, ‘What?’ ‘The sign is on fire.’ ‘Oh. Okay. Guess we’re just rolling with this one.’"
Speaking about the Royal Rumble event in general, Piper Niven says the rumble is her favorite event of the year.
"Royal Rumble is my favorite event of the year. I just love the unknown and the unexpected. You never know who is going to show up. More than that, you never know what storylines are gonna start. This is where it all starts," she said.
At the 2023 Royal Rumble event, Niven was afforded the opportunity to return to the ring under her traditional ring name. One competitor Niven is familiar with that has also undergone a name change in recent months is Alba Fyre.
Piper Niven and the former Kay Lee Ray competed against one another often and WWE NXT UK and Sean Ross Sapp addressed fan desire to see Piper, Becky, and Alba form a unit in the future. Niven says she is very open to that idea and believes that WWE should give the people what they want.
"That makes me feel good. It makes me feel really good. Give the people what they want, goddamnit," said Niven.
Niven had previously explained to Denise Salcedo that she was sidelined at the end of 2022 after a bout with COVID. Fans can learn more about that here.
Piper is also excited to incorporate real-life experiences into her character moving forward. Fans can read more about that here.
