Roxanne Perez discusses her recent appearance in the 2023 Women's Royal Rumble match.
Both the Men's and Women's Royal Rumble matches are known for being full of surprises every single year, and 2023 was no different. In the Women's Royal Rumble match, Chelsea Green, Michelle McCool, and Roxanne Perez all ended up being surprise entrants in the bout.
In a new interview with Fightful, the former NXT Women's Champion reflected on her appearance in the match and how it was a lot to process for her.
"Yeah, honestly Money in the Bank, Royal Rumble and WrestleMania were my top dream matches when I was a kid. So when they told me, ‘Hey, you’re gonna be in the Royal Rumble,’ I was like, ‘It’s my first year here. This is insane.’ I feel like it’s so much to process, but like I said, I’m trying to take in every moment as much as I can. Especially in that Royal Rumble, when I made my entrance, I was like, ‘I have to look everywhere, take it all in.’ It’s so cool the moments that you get to have in professional wrestling. It’s amazing."
Perez also went on to talk about when she had her light bulb moment in WWE.
"I think being in the WWE, I feel like you have to evolve a lot. You have to constantly evolve so that the fans want to keep being invested in you. Something that I sometimes struggle with is I have to keep adding layers. What can I do next? What can I do differently? I remember Shawn told me, ‘Look, you’re fine. You don’t need to change anything right now. You’re young. The cool thing about you being young in the business is that the story writes itself for you. So just keep living in the moment, keep doing what you’re doing, work hard and things are just gonna fall into place.’ That was really good advice to hear from him, especially, from the best in the world, the one that’s experienced everything, the highs, the lows. That was cool."
Roxanne Perez recently lost the NXT Women's Championship to Indi Hartwell in a ladder match at NXT Stand & Deliver. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
