Scott D'Amore had a no-compete with TNA Wrestling.
In February 2024, Anthem Sports And Entertainment announced that they were terminating Scott D'Amore's contract as the president of TNA Wrestling. Just a few months later, D'Amore announced the revival of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, letting fans know that he wasn't leaving the world of pro wrestling.
While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, D'Amore revealed that he originally had a no-compete clause with TNA that was set to expire in January 2025. Fortunately, D'Amore was able to work things out and get rid of the clause.
"I can give you an exclusive. I had a no-compete through January of next year, and I worked it out with TNA on friendly terms. That’s officially over. The Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling stuff started while my no-compete was in place, but as we had discussions, we worked it out and I’m in a good spot where I get all the upsides, for the most part, that were there with the no-compete, and I’m free to move on and do what I want. A clean break is a good break and I’m happy to still be able to feature TNA talent on these shows along with people from AEW and New Japan and Tokyo Joshi Pro. We have a great roster on camera and behind the scenes. I’m super excited."
Elsewhere in the interview, D'Amore talked about featuring TNA talent on Maple Leaf Pro shows. Check out his full comments here.
Maple Leaf Pro will hold their first event, Forged In Excellence, across two nights on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20. The events will stream live on Triller TV.
