Finn Balor Doesn't Want To Be Defined By Titles Or Monikers

Finn Balor will finally have a chance to regain the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble when he faces Brock Lesnar. But if you ask him, he won't be defined by the title he never lost.

Speaking to Inside The Ropes prior to NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool, Balor discussed a potential WrestleMania match against the Undertaker or Lesnar. When asked who he would rather face, Balor said, "The kid, Finn Balor, wants to face the Undertaker. Obviously, time is running out with him. Who knows when or what his last match is gonna be. With what's on the line with the Beast -- and how long is gonna be around, we don't know -- I'd take either one."

Balor was then asked whether or not it was important for him to win back the Universal Title, a belt he had to relinquish one night after he won it at SummerSlam 2016.

"Not necessarily. I don't believe in titles and monikers," said Balor. He continued, saying, "Something in me changed when I won the Universal Title. That was the goal my whole career, to get there. 'You'll never win the title, you'll never make it to WWE.' Then, I'm holding the title. What do I do now? I've already had that feeling of being champion. Obviously it got snatched away pretty quickly but I've made it to the top of the hill. Now I'm trying to meander through a professional career and spread a positive message. The Balor Club for Everyone is something I'm passionate about. We as performers need to use the platform for more good as opposed to ridiculous self-arrogance."

Balor said that "influencing people in a positive manner" is how he wants to be defined as a person, which is why he started the Balor Club for Everyone and had the LGBTQ Community behind him at WrestleMania. Balor revealed that he had been pitching the idea for a while, but it never caught on until Stephanie McMahon heard about it.
