Finn Balor: I've Forgotten How To Be 'The Demon' Because It's So Infrequent

Finn Balor has to re-educate himself when he dons the Demon makeup nowadays.

Since signing with WWE/NXT in 2014, Balor has wowed audiences with this Demon entrances and persona. The Demon first appeared at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution on December 11, 2014 when Balor teamed with Hideo Itami to face The Ascension. Since then, Balor has transformed into the Demon for most of his major pay-per-view matches.

Unfortunately, major pay-per-view matches aren't happening much for Balor nowadays. He's appeared as the Demon just once in 2018 after only appearing as the Demon just twice in 2017.

Speaking to Sam Roberts on the NotSam Wrestling Podcast, Balor revealed the challenges he now faces when he becomes the Demon.

"I do it so infrequently now that I forget how I move as the Demon," stated Balor. "I forget the subtle differences in the entrance and the mannerisms of how the Demon works. Now, when I go out there, I'm Finn Balor, but that's just Fergal. It's just me, the human. But when the Demon goes out there, I need to transform into a different person. That mindset, because I'm not tapping into it so often, that's a huge challenge for me. I gotta figure out how to do that every time, again. I'm very comfortable being Finn, but when it comes to the Demon, I have to reeducate myself. That's an added challenge because of how infrequent we are doing it."

Balor's last appearance as the Demon came at SummerSlam 2018 against Baron Corbin. Prior to that, he came out as the Demon for his 2017 WWE TLC bout against AJ Styles.

He is scheduled to face Drew McIntyre at WWE TLC this Sunday. Fightful will provide live coverage and a post-show podcast recapping the event.
