Former GM of 205 Live and multi-time WWE 24/7 Champion Drake Maverick was released by the WWE earlier today.
Maverick would make his WWE debut in January 2018 as the general manager for 205 Live, which is a role Maverick would hold for the majority of his run with the WWE. Maverick would also be the manager of the Authors Of Pain (AOP), leading them to the Raw Tag Team Championships in November of 2018.
The 205 Live GM would also step into the ring himself, mainly feuding with R-Truth and Carmella over the 24/7 Championship, which Maverick would capture six times during his WWE tenure. Maverick’s real life wife Renee Michelle would appear on WWE Raw with him multiple times, teaming against R-Truth and Carmella on an episode of WWE Raw.
Maverick was scheduled to compete in the upcoming WWE Interim Cruiserweight Title Tournament before getting released, no word has been given on who’ll replace him in the tournament.
An emotional Maverick addressed his WWE release on a video posted on Twitter:
