Sting finally explains what drew him to AEW and Darby Allin gets a match signed for January 6.
Sting lit up the wrestling world when he showed up on AEW Dynamite earlier this month and it was announced that he had signed a multi-year agreement. However, up until now, he hadn't explained why he wanted to join the upstart promotion.
On the December 23 edition of Dynamite, Sting revealed that he chose to join this promotion because 30 years ago, Dusty Rhodes took a chance on him, and now that Cody is leading the charge on TNT, he felt compelled to be a part of this movement.
Taz and his team would cut off Sting, saying that they don't care why he joined the company, and quite frankly they're sick of all of his buzz. Taz would then reveal that Brian Cage would get a TNT Championship match against Darby Allin on January 6 during the second night of New Year's Smash. Team Taz would hit the ring before Darby would appear after a brief blackout inside the squared circle side-by-side with Sting. He would then stare down the legend before the show once again cut to commercial.
The war of words raged on between #TeamTaz, @Sting & your TNT Champion @DarbyAllin.
