Goldberg recalls Stephanie McMahon telling him to stop headbutting doors and reveals how much time is left on his WWE contract.
Goldberg has been a part-time WWE Superstar since November 2016 when he returned in order to smash Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in less than 3 minutes. In that time, he's picked up two more World Championships, been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and participated in a number of dream matches. one of those dream matches was against The Undertaker at WWE Super ShowDown in 2019. that match did not go as intended with Goldberg's attempt at a Jackhammer on The Undertaker nearly going horribly wrong.
Goldberg has been such attributed the missteps in that match to headbutting doors before he goes out to the ring. Speaking on the Roman Atwood podcast, Goldberg reflected on headbutting doors and Stephanie McMahon requesting that he no longer do that. In the process, he also revealed how much time is left on his current WWE contract.
"I mean, I've gotten hurt — I've knocked myself out on the way to the ring to wrestle The Undertaker headbutting a door, knocked me out. But that was me at 50 trying to be Goldberg at 30, forgetting his routine, and realizing his age, and WHAM! I had but doors before I go out. I have a routine. I had but the door and then I'll pour water on myself."
Asked if that was the last time he headbutted a door, Goldberg responded, "It should have been, but it wasn't. I exclaimed it was."
Furthermore, Goldberg spoke about his relationship with WWE never being 100% positive because he believes that his WCW legacy has always prevented WWE from treating him as one of their own.
Then, Goldberg explained that Stephanie McMahon asked him to no longer headbutt any doors.
"Stephanie McMahon, and Stephanie, if you're listening to this, my contract ends in two months, so don't hold this against me. Stephanie came up to me backstage one night, and she said, 'I heard you've been headbutting the doors.' I'm like, 'Yeah, that's how I gotta be me.' She goes, 'I don't want you headbutting any more doors.'"
