Gunther scored the win but brawled with Damian Priest.
In the main event of the July 29th episode of WWE Raw, Gunther faced Finn Balor of the Judgment Day, hoping to gain momentum ahead of his match against World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam. Gunther and Balor battled back and forth throughout the bout. They traded stiff blows, and Balor held his own with the powerhouse. In the closing minutes, Balor went for the Coup de Grace, but Gunther evaded it.
The King of the Ring winner then scored the win when he locked in a sleeper hold, forcing Balor to pass out.

After the match, Gunther attacked Balor and locked in the sleeper hold again. Priest charged to the ring and took the fight to Gunther. They brawled around ringside, and the fight continued as WWE Raw went off the air.
