Hobbs & Shaw Writer Says Writing Team Knew Right Away That They Wanted Roman Reigns In The Film

Hobbs & Shaw writer Chris Morgan talks bringing "The Big Dog" on set.

It was a busy week last week for former Universal Champion Roman Reigns as he was present at the premiere of 'Hobbs & Shaw' in Los Angeles, accepted the ESPY award for 'Best WWE Moment', teamed with The Undertaker at Extreme Rules and last night on RAW, competed in a ten-man Battle Royal to determine Brock Lesnar's challenger to his Universal Championship at SummerSlam.

Roman has had an eventful week and now he is searching for his way onto the 2019 SummerSlam card. Reigns made the rounds on the media circuit to promote 'Hobbs & Shaw' and so has the film's co-writer Chris Morgan. Morgan chatted with Comicbook.com for an exclusive interview and told the publication that the team knew right away that they wanted Reigns in the film.

"Talk about truly heroic things right?" Morgan said. "So yeah, so Joe is Dwayne's cousin, and when we were putting together the Hobbs brothers, we knew right away that we wanted to bring him in, and so Dwayne had reached out and said, 'You'll have to talk to him about this', but paraphrasing, he's like, 'Brother, I know what you're going through and whatever, and I want to support you and we'd love to, at a minimal level, if you want to come in, if it's fun for you, great, and if not, we want to have action and stuff for you' and he came in and he was feeling so good and such a champ. He was body slamming people in Kauai, throwing. Wait until you see the ancient weapons battle in -- like the Samoan ancient weapons battle, it's pretty insane," he added.

Seth Rollins was the winner of the aforementioned Battle Royal and is now slated to take on "The Beast Incarnate" at SummerSlam. To stay up to date with the SummerSlam match card, head over to Fightful's "events" page.
