John Bradshaw Layfield comments on Penta's WWE debut.
Former AEW Tag Team Champion and TNA World Champion Penta made his debut on Monday Night Raw on January 13 with a victory over Chad Gable. Many in the wrestling world were impressed with the Luchador's first WWE outing. Now, JBL is giving his thoughts on Penta's potential in WWE.
Speaking on the latest episode of Something to Wrestle, Bradshaw praised both Penta and Chad Gable for what they pulled off on January 13. Bradshaw would even compare Gable to Kurt Angle.
"They [WWE] do debuts better than anybody else. It's absolutely unbelievable. To put him out there with Chad Gable, Gable is God's gift to wrestling, man. He's just like a modern-day Kurt Angle. He can do absolutely anything," said JBL. "He is so freaking talented and so good at what he does. He's a lot like Kurt as far as what he does with his microphone skills, what he does in the ring, he can do comedy, he does serious stuff, he can be a great wrestler. I mean, that's the right guy, and that's so important to put Penta out there with somebody like Chad Gable. Now, Penta, obviously, is a huge star. He's gonna be a star no matter what. But you give him a guy like Chad Gable, and Gable helps make him.
"I thought the debut was absolutely fantastic. It's going to really help." JBL continued. "This is huge, I think, for WWE, especially with the Latino population... He's like Rey Mysterio. You say, 'Rey Mysterio is one of the greatest Luchadors of all time.' Rey Mysterio is one of the greatest of all time period. This has nothing to do with any type of demographic, but it does help when you want to run Mexico, when you want to run the Southwest in the United States, to have a great Latino star, and he is absolutely fantastic."
