Jim Ross believes in Swerve Strickland.
Strickland is nearing the 100 day mark of his reign with the AEW World Championship. Throughout the reign, Strickland has wrestled memorable bouts against the likes of Will Ospreay, Christian Cage, and Roderick Strong.
Fans have praised the handling of Strickland's reign, with many noting that he's one of the best babyface world champions in recent memory.
On the latest edition of Grilling JR, Jim Ross praised Strickland's Forbidden Door match with Ospreay before also noting that Strickland's best days are ahead of him.
“I thought they told a great story and had a great match. What’s happening here is that we’re seeing the construction of the Swerve Strickland brand, and he's a really talented kid. His best days are yet to come, and my god, he’s still young, he’s athletic. He’s motivated, which is important. I think he takes the fact that he’s the first African-American AEW Champion very seriously, as he should, and he is."
