CM Punk has been making the rounds in 2023, attending NJPW Battle in the Valley, visiting friends and WWE Raw on April, and attending the IMPACT Spring Slugfest tapings on April 29.
Punk, who is still signed to AEW, hasn't wrestled since AEW All Out 2022 when he won the AEW World Title, but suffered an injury and then got into a backstage altercation with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson).
While Punk is showing up to various wrestling events, Joey Janela has (jokingly) made it clear that Punk is not welcome to GCW until he's completed one simple task.

Punk infamously admitted that he had not seen Rocky 3 in a deleted Instagram post where he recalled Jon Moxley's pitch to him for their AEW World Title program heading into All Out.
Janela previously stated that he would only work with Punk if he had seen the Rocky movies. Now, Punk needs to watch them just to be allowed in the GCW locker room.
